Improve your Digestion with Yoga Poses

Good digestion is the key to radiant health .Yoga poses can have a direct, positive influence on our digestive system. They can lead to better digestion as we learn to breathe better and calm our minds. Digestive disorders are most often psychosomatic symptoms of stress, nervousness, anxiety and depression. A turbulent mind reflects on the digestive system.

1. Cat pose : Cat-Cow is a gentle flow between two poses that warms the body and brings flexibility to the spine. It stretches the back torso and neck, and softly stimulates and strengthens the abdominal organs. It also open the chest, encouraging the breath to become slow and deep. The spinal movement of the two poses stimulates the kidneys and adrenal glands. Coordinating this movement with your breathing relieves stress and calms the mind.

2. Spinal twist : Spinal twists help to relieve stress from the entire torso, which will keep your digestive organs running without a hitch. They also help to massage the abdominal area, which prevents your gastrointestinal tract from being sluggish. For that reason, this pose is ideal therapy for constipation, gas, and bloating, but it’s not recommended if you suffer from diarrhea.

3. Vajrasana : Young and old alike should all form a habit of sitting in Vajrasana for about fifteen minutes after every meal like breakfast, mid-day meal and evening or night meals. The problems of indigestion, gas formation or constipation will never arise and you can eliminate the main cause for production of acids.
